Showing the Story.

Telling a story is more than the words you choose. Images and sounds bring a story to life. For almost a decade, I covered life-changing events as a television news producer. Telling a well-rounded and visually compelling story is not just a skill, it is a passion. This passion can bring a brand to life.

My skills.

Why hire a former journalist?

  • Great Storytellers.

Journalists are storytellers. They engage with an audience by ensuring their stories connect on an emotional level. Journalists weave a story around facts, explaining why the information is important to the audience and making difficult concepts understandable by relating them to the everyday.

  • Understands the Media.

As a former producer, I know the day to day life of a journalist. I’ve been on the receiving end of hundreds media alerts so I know what grabs an editor’s attention. I turned those media alerts into stories broadcast to millions of households, so I understand how the media takes PR content and applies it to their audience.

  • Knows Tight Deadlines.

A journalist is trained on tight deadlines and knows how to get a job done on time despite setbacks. Whether interviews fall though, news breaks, stories change news deadlines are not flexible. The 5PM news airs at 5PM, so the content must be finished at 4:59. This hard-stop deadline taught me to manage multiple projects in different phases while collaborating with a team to ensure a flawless execution.

Boston.

Creating Brand Awareness. I covered breaking news, daily stories, and weather in one of the biggest markets in the United States. Working alongside talented journalists, to bring information impacting daily life to an audience of 2.3 million.

Memphis.

Differentiating the Brand. As a producer in Memphis, TN, my daily goal was to differentiate my show from my competitors. That is not an easy task when your competition airs at the same time, often with a similar offering.

I was able to earn the number 1 ranking among adults 25-54 by covering important stories in a way that resonated with the audience. Knowing the audience, writing authentically, and showcasing the facts differentiated my newscasts from the competitors.
